Havre de Grace is all about community. During the pandemic, the community has truly pulled together to support local businesses and residents.
Havre de Gracians are proud of our small town and if you’ve ever attended a football game, it is very much like Friday Night lights – with everyone decked out in their maroon Warrior gear.
Amy Dean and Lisa Blakeley, real estate agents at Integrity Real Estate Havre de Grace, approached Liz Nemeth, a teacher at Havre de Grace Middle School, and local resident about a mask fundraiser.
With school buildings being closed for a large part of the school year, fundraising has been challenging. “We thought it would be great for students, teachers, alumnae and staff to have masks in school colors so they could show their school pride and stay safe,” Dean stated.
Together, they created masks and gaiters with the Warrior logo. There was immediate interest once the fundraiser launched and they sold 300 masks raising $610 for Havre de Grace Middle School, exceeding their expectations.
The money raised will help fund Havre de Grace Middle School’s Student Government Association to help others or fund events such as the annual Maryland Association of Student Councils Convention in Ocean City.
