Meet Taren

Favorite hobbies to include, but not limited to, posing in front of trash littered murals.

Hi, my name is Taren. I am 34 and I live in Historic Havre de Grace with my dog Sadie. I moved to Havre de Grace five years ago and instantly fell in love.

As someone who had always moved around, it was the first place where I really felt like I was at home. I like to think of Havre de Grace as my own Star’s Hollow. It is picturesque, everyone knows you, and it has just enough small-town drama to keep it interesting (I’m looking at you “You Know You Are from Havre De Grace Page!).

When I met Beth, I realized that even though we were different, we were both passionate about this awesome place and wanted to do everything we could to make everyone else feel the same. Our differences are actually an asset because we offer diverse perspectives.

If you need ideas that are family friendly without compromising your palate or fun, or you want an inside peek at every major event in town- Beth is your girl. If you want to know where to find the best interior design and fashion merchandise on a budget or get and inside tour of some of the gorgeous houses in Havre de Grace- I am your girl. If you want to find a dive bar, drink too much bourbon, and wail Patsy Cline, offkey, into a microphone…well I am also your girl.

I hope you follow along with us and if we do our jobs properly, you will love this place just as much as we do!

Meet Beth

Beth

Hi, my name is Beth. I am 38 and live in Historic Havre de Grace with my four kids – Connor, 11, Molly, 9, Brandt, 3 and Juliette, 2 and better half, David.

I moved to Havre de Grace a little under two years ago. Originally from NH, I moved down to Maryland to attend Towson University. After college, I moved to Baltimore City where I remained from 2013 to 2019. While we absolutely loved city life and have many fond memories, we decided we were ready for a change.

The problem was we could not for the life of us figure out where to go. I spent every free second on Zillow trying to find a location that would work for everyone. On a whim, I loaded up my two babies on a rainy Saturday in January and headed to an open house for a farmette in Havre de Grace. I had heard of Havre de Grace and had even attended a wedding at Swan Harbor, but knew nothing else about it.

The open house was great and I fell in love with the farmette. The rain stopped and the sun came out and I decided to follow the street signs to “Historic Havre de Grace.”

I found myself in this adorable little downtown and decided to pop into one of the coffee shops, Java by the Bay. For what was supposed to be a quick “coffee to go” (remember I was solo with a 4-month old and 16-month old) turned into a 2 hour visit. The coffee shop had a steady stream of both visitors and locals and I could not get enough. By the end of our visit, the owner, Helen had Juliette behind the counter ringing up gift cards. Before we left, Helen and Ron convinced me to check out the playground at Tydings Park and sent me off with walking directions. Well, we had the best afternoon at Tydings Park and the promenade. I actually met a mom who had just moved to Havre de Grace from Hampden and we agreed it was a hidden gem. When I spoke to David that night, I couldn’t stop talking about what a great day we had and how excited I was to bring him there. As it turns out, David had passed by exit 89 for Havre de Grace countless times when he was stationed at Aberdeen. Every time he passed by, he was intrigued by the name “Havre de Grace,” but never got off the exit. When I brought my older two kids to visit, my son said, “Mom, this place is perfectly perfect. It’s the perfect mix of country and city.” That sealed the deal. We had found our new home for our big, blended family.

We rented a beautiful waterfront condo for a year and a half and finally found our forever home in Historic Havre de Grace – a few doors down from Bomboy’s Candy (my mom approved) and a few blocks from our boat.

These past two years in Havre de Grace have exceeded all of my wildest expectations. I love that we can walk everywhere like we did in the city, including school. I love the diversity, history, community, local merchants and always being within a few blocks of the water. My older kids go off Indeed’s toy with their friends to grab cones at Bomboy’s Ice Cream or lunch at the Promenade Grille. As the owner of an event company, I am used to planning all the events, so you can imagine how happy I was to discover Havre de Grace’s robust lineup of events throughout the year. David had been wanting a boat, so he got his wish a few months after we moved and we have enjoyed exploring all of the different towns along the Chesapeake Bay. There’s nothing better than dropping your anchor at an island and watching your kids splash and dive for treasures.

When I met Taren, I instantly fell in love with her big personality and energy. While we are very different, our love for Havre de Grace is apparent and we never turn down an open house, concert, or opportunity to plan an event.

If you need home décor ideas, help with an outfit, or tips on entertaining for every occasion – Taren is your girl. If you want to know if restaurant is kid-friendly, ideas for a moms escape or if you can navigate a double stroller at the Havre de Grace Farmers Market – I am your girl.

We are so excited to share everything we love about Havre de Grace with you! It is a very special place and we are sure you’ll fall in love too.

-Beth
